The 2005 - 2006 School Year
Our goal for the 2005-2006 year was to convert a new vehicle. We had three Pontiac Fiero’s, which we combined
into one functioning vehicle and subsequently converted to full electric. During the conversion we attended the
North Hampton event in Ahoskie North Carolina. At this event we participated in several races and range challenges,
placing well in all of them. Unfortunately, this was also the last event our Toyota Paseo participated in, shortly
after the even it developed several issues and had to be parked.
We managed to complete the Fiero during our spring break just before the final event. As we rolled it out of the
shop we forgot it didn’t have brakes yet and it almost ran into a fence. After this inauspicious beginning, we sent
the car off to be painted and a few weeks later we had our Fiero back and we were ready for our final competition.
At finals we brought home more trophies than we brought home people. Our new Fiero took first in both the range
and autocross events; overall placing first and third with the truck and Fiero respectively.
